A Mossley convenience store owner is celebrating after winning £5,000 towards a major store refresh as part of Premier’s nationwide celebrations marking the achievement of reaching 5,000 stores across the UK.
Raja Brothers Premier, located on Stamford Road in Mossley, was selected as one of the winners after entering a prize draw at one of five reginal Premier 5,000 roadshow events held earlier this year.
The roadshow brought together independent retailers, customers and supplier partners at venues across the country to celebrate the success of local convenience stores and the communities they serve.

The £5,000 prize will be used to further enhance the Mossley store, improving the shopping experience for customers and supporting the continued growth of the business.
Owner Aingaran Somasuntharam and his brother currently operate six Premier stores across the region, including branches in Golborne, Gidlow, Ripponden Road, Wood Street, Mossley and Holly’s.
The latest award comes shortly after a significant investment in the Mossley store, which underwent a major refit earlier this year.
Mr Somasuntharam said: “After investing so heavily into a refit earlier this year, winning this additional £5,000 is a fantastic boost for the business.
“It means we can continue improving the store and reinvesting in the experience for our customers. The response since reopening has been brilliant, especially around the new beer cave, refreshment area and expanded fresh food offering.”
The store refresh prize forms part of a wider programme of activity by Premier, the Uk’s largest symbol group operated by Booker Group, to celebrate reaching the milestone of 5,000 stores. The celebrations have included national promotions, community giveaways and events designed to support independent retailers and increase footfall during key trading periods.
Colm Johnson, Managing Director for Retail at Booker, said: “Reaching 5,000 stores is a huge milestone for Premier, and we’re proud to support our retailers by reinvesting in their businesses.
“Initiatives like this help stores continue to serve their local communities and thrive.”
