TAMESIDE is home to national champions after a futsal club was crowned the country’s best, at the first time of asking.
Sala, which is registered in Mossley, lifted the National Futsal League T3 National trophy after an outstanding 9–1 victory over Newham in the final at Repton School in Derbyshire.
Representing the North Division, graduate Lewis Lambkin scored four goals.
The 19-year-old has been part of the Sala programme since the age of nine and his performance on the national stage highlighted the club’s long-term commitment to player development.
Another proud moment for the club came when 16-year-old graduate Sam Dixon added his name to the scoresheet, continuing the pathway success that has become central to the club’s identity.
Alex Jones contributed two goals, while Benji Jenkinson also scored twice.
The achievement is even more remarkable given this was Sala’s first ever season competing in men’s futsal.
Despite being newcomers at senior level, the club immediately established itself as a national force, earning promotion to tier two of the National Futsal League for next season.
The club’s success story continues with both the Sala Under-16 Boys and Under-16 Girls teams reaching the England Futsal National Youth Cup Finals.
Club captain and first team manager Oscar Lucas praised the squad, coaching staff, families, volunteers, and supporters who have contributed to the success throughout the season.
He said: “This title is an incredible achievement for everyone connected with Sala. To win a national title in our very first men’s season is something truly special.
“Seeing players who have developed through our pathway from a young age now performing on the national stage shows what the club is all about.”
As the club prepares for life in tier two, Sala is also actively seeking new sponsorship and partnership opportunities to support the continued development of its players, teams and futsal programme.
Businesses interested in supporting one of England’s fastest-growing futsal clubs are encouraged to get in touch by emailing Neil Lucas at neil@salasoccerschools.com or calling 07793 216836.
