A MAN has been arrested after police uncovered a large cannabis farm hidden inside a house in Ashton-under-Lyne.
Officers carried out a warrant at a property on Broadoak Road in the Ashton Hurst area on Thursday morning (May 21), where they discovered what was described as a “fully operational” grow.
Inside, police found between 100 and 150 cannabis plants, along with a quantity of cultivated cannabis believed to be ready for distribution.
One man was arrested at the scene and remains in custody for questioning.

Police say cannabis farms like this are often far more dangerous than many people realise, with illegal electrical bypasses and overloaded systems creating a serious fire risk for neighbouring homes.
Officers warned that entire streets can be put at risk without residents even knowing what is happening behind closed doors.
Greater Manchester Police also highlighted links between cannabis production and organised crime, saying profits are often used to fund wider criminal activity across communities.

In some cases, officers say vulnerable people are trafficked or exploited to work inside the properties, raising concerns around modern slavery.
Residents are being urged to report suspicious activity linked to suspected cannabis farms or organised crime.
Warning signs can include blacked-out windows, unusual heat coming from a property, strong smells, frequent visitors at odd hours, or tampered electricity meters.
