CHURCHES across Stalybridge are set to continue a long-standing Whit Sunday tradition later this month.
Pentecost in the Park is a community celebration that will take place in the town on Sunday, May 24.
It will begin at New Stalybridge Labour Club at 12.15pm, before worshippers walk to Cheetham Park accompanied by Boarshurst Silver Band.

The event will bring together congregations from churches including St Paul’s Church, St James’ Church, Reach Church and Holy Trinity Church for a service of unity, followed by a picnic and family games.
Organised by Churches Together in Stalybridge, everyone is welcome to join the celebration.
Before the Covid pandemic, churches traditionally held a Walk of Witness and Service of Unity in Armentieres Square on Pentecost Sunday afternoons.
In recent years, however, the format has changed, with organisers moving away from longer processions through the streets due to increasing traffic disruption and safety concerns.
This year’s event aims to keep the spirit of the tradition alive while bringing the community together.
