Pupils at St Joseph’s Primary School in Mossley were given a welcome surprise as members of Dukinfield and Stalybridge Rotary Club visited with a generous donation of books.
The visit saw children receive a wide selection of reading material to take home and enjoy, with staff saying pupils were excited to begin exploring their new books straight away.

School representatives thanked the Rotary Club for their support, highlighting the positive impact the donation will have in encouraging a love of reading across the school community.
The initiative forms part of the wider Rotary Books4Home project, which has been running since 2015. The scheme started with 2,000 books donated to 12 schools and has since expanded significantly.
To date, more than 230,000 books have been distributed to 238 schools, helping children build their own personal libraries and develop reading habits at home.
The project also promotes sustainability, with donated books being good quality, pre-loved copies rather than newly purchased items.
Staff at St Joseph’s said the donation would make a real difference, both in supporting literacy and giving children the opportunity to enjoy books of their own.
