Residents across Tameside are being reminded of important deadlines ahead of the local elections on May 7.
Anyone not already registered to vote can register up until 11.59pm on Monday 20 April at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
People wishing to apply for a postal vote can do so up until 5pm on Tuesday 21 April at www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote
To appoint a proxy to vote on your behalf at your polling station, you need to apply by 5pm on Tuesday 28 April at www.gov.uk/apply-proxy-vote
Voters are reminder they need to show valid photo ID to vote in a polling station. Common accepted forms of ID include passports and driving licences – for a full list of accepted ID see www.gov.uk/how-to-vote/photo-id-youll-need.
Alternatively they can apply for Voter Authority Certificate by 5pm on 28 April at www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate
Polling Stations will be open from 7am to 10pm for the local election on Thursday 7 May 2026.
