Droylsden issue stark warning after receiving another FA charge

Droylsden Football Club has issued a strongly-worded warning to supporters after being charged by the Football Association over objects being thrown onto the pitch.

The Bloods hierarchy says the incident – which happened in their Manchester Premier Cup tie against Ashton United – is not isolated.

The club said the referee reported items being launched onto the playing surface during the first half of their semi-final victory over the Robins on March 24.

The latest charge by the FA has sparked concern within the club, who now face potential disciplinary consequences.

Club chairman Dave Pace and secretary Nigel Barlow have made it clear that continued misconduct could carry serious repercussions, including financial penalties or even being forced to play matches behind closed doors – punishing the wider fanbase as a result of the actions of a few.

In a statement released on Monday, March 30, the club did not hold back in condemning the behaviour.

“The Club is very disappointed that once again this season we have been charged by the FA concerning items thrown onto the pitch during a game,” it read.

“The latest incident, reported by the referee, occurred during the first half of the Manchester Cup Semi Final tie against Ashton United on March 24, 2026.

“The Club will not tolerate this behaviour either at home or away, and given that this is not the first occasion this has happened this season, we will now be facing a fine or potentially worse sanctions, which may include playing games behind closed doors.

“To those who are continuing this behaviour, we send this simple message: Your actions are bringing the reputation of this club into disrepute, and potentially preventing fans from watching the Bloods going forward.

“We have instructed our stewards that any persons seen throwing objects onto the pitch will be immediately ejected from the ground, and will face an immediate ban from future games and the ground.”

Droylsden’s form on the pitch remains strong. Dave Pace’s side secured a 2-0 win over Garstang at the Butcher’s Arms on Tuesday night (March 31), keeping them firmly in the hunt for automatic promotion to the North West Counties Premier Division.

They currently sit second in the First Division North table, just one point behind leaders Nelson – who have played a game more – setting up a tense run-in to the end of the season.
