Street Life returns to Ashton with ‘Episode IV: A New Hope’ themed town takeover

A hugely popular community event is set to return to Ashton-under-Lyne this summer, promising to be bigger, louder and more ambitious than ever.

Street Life is back on Saturday, June 6, transforming the town centre into a full-day celebration of music and film.

Following the success of last year’s events, which attracted more than 4,000 visitors each time, organisers are preparing to once again fill Market Avenue and surrounding streets with entertainment, food and immersive experiences.

Described as a “community takeover”, the free event aims to reinvigorate the area and celebrate everything that makes Ashton unique.

This year’s “Episode IV: A New Hope” theme promises a packed programme including celebrity guests, movie props and memorabilia, live music and DJs, street food, pop-up bars, market stalls and family-friendly entertainment.

Visitors can also expect cosplayers, performers and interactive surprises throughout the day.

The event will run from 10am until late, with no tickets or entry fees required.

Organisers are also calling on performers, traders, creatives and volunteers to get involved, as they continue their mission to showcase local talent and bring energy back into the town.
