Volunteers invited to join Great British Spring Clean in Tame Valley

Residents are being encouraged to roll up their sleeves and help protect local green spaces as part of this year’s Great British Spring Clean.

Community group Friends of the Tame Valley is hosting two litter-picking events aimed at caring for the valley, woods and river.

The first session will take place on Friday, March 27 from 9.30am to 12.30pm, with volunteers asked to meet at Dunkirk Lane car park. The clean-up will focus on the Jet Amber Fields area, between the Peak Forest Canal and the River Tame, in partnership with Suez.

A second event will follow on Saturday, March 28 from 10.30am to 12pm, meeting at the St Anne’s Road entrance. This session forms part of the group’s regular monthly litter pick, targeting woodland and riverside areas.

Organisers say all equipment will be provided and that everyone is welcome to take part, with participants simply advised to dress appropriately for the weather.

The initiative forms part of a wider national campaign to tackle litter and improve local environments, while bringing communities together to take pride in their surroundings.
