Clues, chocolate and cuddly prizes at Hyde village’s Easter celebrations

FAMILIES in a Hyde village are being invited to follow the clues, crack a hidden word and claim a chocolatey reward at a community Easter egg hunt this spring.

The event takes place on Easter Sunday, April 5, from 11am to 2pm, starting and finishing at Gee Cross Community Centre.

Children and their families can set off in search of clues dotted around Gee Cross.

By solving them, those taking part will reveal a secret word – and those who get it right can return to the community centre to receive a free Easter egg from the Easter Bunny in a “magical garden” setting, while stocks last.

Alongside the hunt, there will be extra attractions to keep youngsters entertained, including a tombola and a teddy bear tombola, both offering three goes for £1. There is also the chance to guess the name of a giant teddy for £2 a try.

The event – organised by Hyde Werneth councillor Phil Chadwick – is aimed at children of all ages and everyone in the community is welcome to take part.

It continues a growing tradition of seasonal activities in Gee Cross and follows the popular Gingerbread Trail and Santa’s Grotto held in the village during the Christmas period.
