MORE than 100 members of Girlguiding Tame Valley came together in Dukinfield to celebrate a century of World Thinking Day.
Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and adult volunteers from Mossley, Stalybridge and Dukinfield gathered at Dukinfield Methodist Church recently.
There was a packed programme of activities, from cake decorating to writing postcards to Girl Scouts in the USA.
The special event also welcomed Tameside’s Civic Mayor Councillor Shibley Alam and Councillor Tafheen Sharif, who joined in the celebrations and met with members from across the area.
Manchester County Commissioner Catherine Bowers and the County President presented awards during the event and led a renewal of promises ceremony, marking the significance of the international day in the guiding calendar.
World Thinking Day is celebrated by Girl Guides and Girl Scouts across the globe, recognising international friendship and the values of guiding.
The festivities didn’t end there, with a group of Guides and leaders continuing the occasion with a sleepover at the church.
