Offices plan for Ashton pub

A FORMER pub will be turned into rented office space of planning permission is granted.

James Leggat has applied to Tameside Council to convert the Dog and Partridge, on Oldham Road.

According to documents, the building would house 11 units, along with a kitchen, dining facilities, toilets and a server room.

Externally, the only change to the site, which has been shut since May 2025, would see a new window put into a side wall.

And Tameside Council’s environmental services department has already given its backing to the proposal – a contaminated land report also raises no objection.

It is also claimed the office use is unlikely to increase traffic significantly compared to the public house use.

Paperwork states: “Office tenants may generate commuter traffic, but this is offset by the cessation of late-night and delivery traffic associated with the pub.

“The proposed development to convert the Dog and Partridge from a public house to a multiple office letting building is not expected to result in any significant adverse impacts on local air quality.

“With appropriate construction management and operational measures in place, the development will comply with national and local air quality standards.”

Tameside Council’s Speaker’s Panel (Planning) committee, or officers, will decided whether to grant or refuse permission,
