VALENTINE’S Day can be magical for some, for others it can feel isolating.
But The Dining Room in Gee Cross is keen to shift the stigma of the holiday and celebrate with the singles!
Mathew Hall took over the Stockport Road establishment on January 1 after being a manager for four years.
He described it as the ‘worst kept secret’ as he was eager to take on the business on.
And this year is the first time The Dining Room is hosting a Galentine’s alongside its traditional Valentine’s drag show on Saturday, February 14 – the response has been huge, with the later slot selling out.
The evening, which gives ticket holders a window of two hours for all they can eat and drink for £45, will feature two drag sets, ending on what promises is a real feel-good high. Matthew will be performing in drag as Sandy Shore.
“You can still go out and enjoy Valentine’s if you’re not with someone. Come and have a little drink and a party,” he said.
“All the single ladies are coming. All single ladies pining after a dreamboy!”
The first show starts at 4pm until 6pm and the 7pm show is a little more cheeky with the additional special guest stripper Max Hunter.
Events hosted at The Dining Room also allow guests the opportunity to donate to local causes.
Matt added: “In a little village like this you can do more.
“We have a village in bloom, local fairs and local food banks that we support.
“At the moment we are supporting the local lollypop lady. She’s climbing Mount Kilimanjaro – she’s 60 odd!!”
In December 2025, Matt and The Dining Room team raised £1,010 for Mentell, a local men’s mental health charity.
And the venue is gearing up for an exciting line-up of upcoming gigs, themed events and its ever-popular comedy quiz nights.
