LOCAL people are being invited to help shape how Greater Manchester’s transport network will look and work through to 2050.
A public consultation has opened on the Greater Manchester Transport Strategy and Delivery Plan, which sets out long-term proposals to create a more connected, reliable and accessible transport system across the city region.
The strategy focuses on how people travel to work, education, healthcare and leisure, with plans aimed at better linking communities, supporting new housing and jobs, and improving everyday journeys for residents, workers, students and visitors alike.

Backed by £2.5 billion in government funding to deliver projects through to the early 2030s, the plans cover a wide range of transport improvements.
These include proposals to improve public transport, make walking and cycling safer and more appealing, reduce congestion, and ensure the network is fit for a growing population and economy.
Transport leaders say local feedback is essential to making sure the strategy reflects real-life needs across all parts of Greater Manchester.
Anyone who lives, works, studies, travels through or visits Greater Manchester can take part in the consultation, regardless of how often they use public transport.
Views are being sought from drivers, cyclists, pedestrians, public transport users and businesses, as well as from young people and those with accessibility needs.
As well as completing the online survey, residents will be able to attend drop-in sessions held at public venues, giving people the chance to ask questions and discuss the proposals in person.
Organisers say the feedback will help guide decisions on future investment, priorities and delivery, ensuring the transport network supports economic growth while improving quality of life and cutting carbon emissions.
The consultation runs until Monday, March 9, 2026.
