Local pupils’ artwork features on MP’s Christmas card

FESTIVE creativity was well and truly wrapped up in Ashton-under-Lyne as local primary pupils put pen to paper for an MP Angela Rayner’s Christmas card competition.

Nearly 300 children from schools across Ashton, Audenshaw, Droylsden and Dukinfield submitted colourful designs under this year’s theme, Santa’s Winter Wonderland.

After what was described as a tough judging process, the 2025 top prize was awarded to Laurelynn Tita from Waterloo Primary School.

Jannat Imran of St James’ Primary was named runner-up, while Bartosz Dziok from St Peter’s Primary secured third place.

The winning artwork will feature on the Christmas card that Ms Rayner sends to fellow MPs, public figures and even the King – giving one local pupil’s festive design a national audience.

Each of the three winners received a present, a copy of the finished card, and a certificate to recognise their achievement.

The MP for Ashton-under-Lyne praised the effort that went into the entries, saying: “I always enjoy looking through the pictures sent in for my annual Christmas card competition.

“The standard of entries is always high and this year was no exception. Picking just one winner and two runners-up was a very hard task so Laurelynn, Jannat and Bartosz should be incredibly proud of themselves.

“Congratulations to the winners and thank you to every single child that took part.”
