The chair of the Reform UK in Tameside has been banned from the road after being convicted of drink driving.
Robert Barrowcliffe admitted driving while over the legal alcohol limit on November 16, 2024.
Due to appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Friday, November 21 for trial, Barrowcliffe changed his plea to guilty.
Court documents detail how Barrowcliffe, of Carrhill Road, Mossley, was stopped in his Mazda by police on Cavendish Street, Tameside.
He had 42 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 35.
Barrowcliffe was banned from driving for a year, with the option of taking a drink-drive rehabilitation course to reduce that period by 12 weeks.
He was fined £500, with an additional victim surcharge of £200 and court costs of £85.
Barrowcliffe has been a long-standing member of the movement led by Nigel Farage. He finished runner up to Angela Rayner at the 2024 General Election for the Ashton seat.
