TAMESIDE is home to more sporting glory after four girls became national football champions.
Charlotte Boff, Bella Sherlock, Ivy Marsden and Hattie Whitehouse defeated the country’s best to come out on top of the 3v3 finals.
And what better place to do it than at St George’s Park, home of England football.
The nine-year-old quartet, who are all in the under-10s girls’ side at Beswick CFC, have been best friends for many years and play against boys the same age – three come from Dukinfield and one from Ashton-under-Lyne.

Already Manchester champions, they travelled to compete in the national finals and faced teams from all over the country, including London’s finest.
But there was no stopping them from claiming victory.
Proud parent Chris Sherlock said: “This is a major honour for them and the club.
“To be crowned national champions at such a young age is an exceptional achievement.
“The parents and club are immensely proud of them as this brings a further positive spotlight to the girls’ game in the local area.”
A spokesperson for Beswick CFC added: “The girls battled exceptionally well across a long day of football, in which they were eventually crowned not just regional champions, but – 3v3 National Champions.
“We would like to say a huge congratulations to all four of the girls, coaches and parents on their remarkable achievement.”
