MOSSLEY’S streets, parks and canal paths are looking cleaner and brighter after a community-wide effort brought residents, councillors and volunteers together for the town’s latest Spruce Up Day.
The clean-up followed the build-up to the event earlier in the month, when residents were encouraged to get involved through The Correspondent’s preview article.
The day saw local councillors, Mossley Litterbugs and Mossley Town Council join forces with dozens of residents determined to make a difference.

Cubs and Scouts were busy along the canal towpaths, while Mill Street car park and the market ground were tackled by an army of volunteers armed with litter pickers and bin bags.
The event formed part of a wider community campaign to boost pride in the town and protect its green and public spaces.
Organisers praised the turnout and teamwork, with volunteers of all ages giving up their Saturday morning to help.
Cllr Dave Jones, Chair of Mossley Town Council, said the event captured the true spirit of the town.
“It was fantastic to see so many people come together to take pride in Mossley,” he said. “From the Scouts and Cubs to long-time residents, everyone played their part. It just shows what can be achieved when the community pulls together.”
Local councillors also thanked everyone who took part, saying the event showed Mossley at its best, a community that rolls up its sleeves to get things done.
