LOW-INCOME families across Tameside are being encouraged to attend new drop-in sessions this month.
The sessions will offer face-to-face help with applying for the Household Support Fund – a local grant designed to ease pressure from rising food and energy costs.
Run by Tameside Council, they will take place at Tameside One in Ashton-under-Lyne and Hattersley Library, giving residents the chance to get one-to-one support with their applications.
Staff will be available to guide people through the process, check eligibility, and answer any questions about the help available.
The Household Support Fund provides financial assistance to residents who are finding it difficult to make ends meet, amid the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.
The council hopes that offering in-person support will make it easier for those who may struggle with online forms or digital access to apply.
Councillor Hugh Roderick, Executive Member for Finance and Resources, said: “We know things are tough right now with costs going up, and these drop-in sessions are a simple way for people to get help through the Household Support Fund. Our team will be there to walk residents through it and make the whole thing as easy as possible.”
The drop-in sessions at Tameside One, Level One, will be on October 16, 23 and 30 from 8.30am to 4pm and at Hattersley Library on Stockport Road on October 14 and 28 from 1pm to 4pm.
