A STALYBRIDGE nursery has turned around its actions after a notice to make urgent improvements was issued following a grading of ‘inadequate.’
Now Kids Planet, on Huddersfield Road, is rated as good by Ofsted inspectors.
The establishment was given the lowest possible ranking after finding several serious faults during a visit on June 20, many of which stem from ‘staff deployment.’
These included climbing equipment being placed close to a wall, resulting in children often falling off and bumping their head.

Staff left discarded food for children to access and eat and failed to recognise a wet floor causing a slip hazard.
They also did not recognise the risk of choking when they attempt to put food in children’s mouths when they are crying.
But three months later, things have been turned around, with a new inspection returning the improved assessment.
In its latest report, Ofsted states: “The quality of the education and care has improved significantly since the last inspection.
“Leaders ensure that the premises are safe and suitable. Children are well supervised by attentive staff during their play and learning. This contributes to children’s good well-being and development.
“The provider has focused on training staff to develop knowledge and skills relating to safeguarding and welfare.
“Leaders have worked hard to address the weaknesses identified at the last inspection. They have high standards.
“Leaders have established a professional, yet warm and friendly, atmosphere in the nursery.
“They have helped staff to develop the skills they require to fulfil their job roles in order to keep children safe. Staff are now confident in their work.
“They have evaluated children’s interests and created a physical development breakout area for children.
“Children develop their gross motor skills as they take appropriate risks, such as by clambering up climbing slopes, balancing on stepping stones and digging in soil.
“Consequently, children develop confidence in physical activity that has a positive impact on their development.”
Just one month after its initial inspection, Ofsted revisited Kids Planet, which cares for 70 children, and found changes it demanded have been implemented.
Now a subsequent full overview has found the turnaround has been completed.
