LOCAL community groups are being urged to apply for funding to support projects that tackle hate crime across Tameside.
Up to £500 is available for constituted organisations, charities and CICs (Community Interest Companies) to run activities that raise awareness of hate crime, encourage reporting, and support victims.

The funding, provided by Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), must be used for projects delivered in Tameside and primarily take place during Greater Manchester Hate Crime Awareness Week from February 2 to 8, 2026.
Applications open on Monday, September 29, and close on Friday, October 24.
Ideas could include campaigns, workshops, or community events that highlight the impact of hate crime, explain where and how it can be reported, and promote community cohesion.
The four priorities of GMCA’s Hate Crime Plan are:
Prevention – bringing people together to promote cohesion and celebrate diversity
Raising awareness of hate crime and the consequences
Increasing reporting – ensuring people know how hate crimes can be reported
Improving the victim experience – from reporting to resolution
Councillor Taf Sharif, Executive Member for Community Cohesion, said: “We are encouraging all local charities and organisations to take part in this fantastic offer aimed at supporting the delivery of hate crime awareness activities and workshops.
“It is so important that as a borough, we demonstrate unity and inclusivity, wherever we can. By working in partnership, we can create a borough where everyone feels safe, valued, and included.”
