‘High-attaining’ GCSE results for Laurus Ryecroft’s Class of 2025

THERE were plenty of smiles as the moment they had all been waiting for arrived for students at Laurus Ryecroft.

The Droylsden school has reported another excellent year for GCSE results, with 18 per cent of pupils having achieved grades 7 to 9 in both English and Maths.

Overall, 74 per cent secured at least a grade 4 in the core subjects, while half reached the higher “gold-standard” grade 5. Impressively, one in 10 Year 11 students achieved grades 7 to 9 across all their subjects.

Younger pupils have also made their mark, with Year 9 students celebrating excellent early entries in Spanish – 32 per cent achieving grades 7 to 9 and more than three-quarters securing at least a grade 4.

It’s only the third year that the Lumb Lane school – which first opened in 2018 – has had a GCSE results day to celebrate.

It follows on from the school’s Sixth Form marking the achievements of its first-ever cohort of Year 13 students on A-Level results day last week.

“Both these GCSE results and our A-Level results last week demonstrate just how serious we are about being unashamedly academic, and ensuring our students can open the door to the future of their choice,” said Reece Carling, Head of School.

“These high-attaining GCSE results are a testament to the rigorous commitment of students and staff over their five-year journey with us. We would like to take the opportunity to thank parents and carers, and the wider school community for their support.

“Our Year 11s should be delighted with their results, and we wish them well in their next steps, whether that is to remain here with us at Ryecroft or seek pastures new.”

Linda Magrath OBE, CEO of the Laurus Trust, added: “It is wonderful to see such fantastic GCSE results from our Year 11 and Year 9 students. They should be incredibly proud of what they’ve achieved, and I want to take this opportunity to wish them every success in their next steps.”
