EXCITEMENT is brewing for the return of Tameside Beer Festival – which is a matter of weeks away.
Now in its 13th year, the much-loved charity event will once again take over its ‘home’ at Stalybridge Civic Hall.
This year it will be raising vital funds for Willow Wood Hospice and The Christie Hospital Trust.
The ale-mazing festival is back on Friday, September 19, and Saturday, September 20.
Doors will open at midday and close at 10pm on both evenings, with last orders at 10.30pm.
The £5 entry fee, payable on the door, will provide festival goers with access to over 30 beers, lagers, ciders and wines – alongside hot food, snacks and live music. Visitors wishing to buy drinks will be able to purchase beer tokens.
There’s an eclectic mix of live entertainment too – kicking off on Friday with Tameside Community Voices, Mossley Ukulele Group, a special performance by the Global Grooves troupe, and classic rock band the Company of Strangers.
Saturday’s line-up will feature High Peak Big Band, St John’s Brass Band, singer/guitarist Andy Sproston, and the popular group Pattison Fogg.
An established part of the Tameside social calendar, the festival – which attracts visitors from across the borough and beyond – is organised by the kind-hearted volunteers at Tameside Rotary.
Peter Holden, who is co-ordinating the event, said: “We are delighted that this year’s Beer Festival is returning to Stalybridge and Rotarians are working hard behind the scenes to make the event ‘pitcher’ perfect for visitors.
“We are very grateful to our sponsors, advertisers, supporters and volunteers – without whom we would be unable to put on an event of this size.
“We hope that people will come along, sample the beers on offer, enjoy the entertainment and raise a glass to help make this year’s event a huge success.”
