Lifesaving boost for Stalybridge: two new defibrillators installed after fundraising success

STALYBRIDGE has two new pieces of lifesaving equipment installed following a successful fundraising drive.

Defibrillators have been placed in the town centre, with one at the bottom of Melbourne Street at its junction with Market Street.

Another have been installed on to the outside wall of the Lord Stamford pub, on Grosvenor Street.

The equipment is being installed after money was raised by Dukinfield and Stalybridge Rotary Club and Stalybridge Town Team, with the support of 29 town centre businesses and the town’s MP, Jonathan Reynolds.

Both defibrillators will be available for anyone to use 24/7 and 25 people have confirmed their attendance at a training course covering CPR techniques, using a defibrillator and discussing what to do in an emergency.

And a spokesperson said: “The feedback from attendees on this course tell us that confidence in helping during an emergency is substantially improved.”

There is still time to donate to this important cause and/or to attend a training course – or enquire about having a defibrillator placed in a certain area.

Anyone wishing to do so is asked to contact Rotary member Elizabeth Hesketh on 07894 664579.
