Works 4 U students support Stalybridge Regimental Dinner

A SPECIALIST Stalybridge college that supports young people with alternative education and employability training played a key role in a recent community event.

On Sunday, August 3, students and staff from Works4U hosted the Stalybridge Detachment’s Regimental Dinner at The Lock, situated on Castle Street.

As part of their work placements, youngsters took on a range of responsibilities including welcoming guests, table and drinks service and overall customer care.

The event formed part of their practical training, delivered in partnership with Works4U’s job coaches.

In the lead-up to the dinner, students attended additional sessions during the summer holidays to further develop their skills across bar service, table service and hospitality.

Organisers of the Regimental Dinner praised the students for their presentation, professionalism and teamwork throughout the evening.

Lisa Buckley, from Works4U, told The Correspondent: “We are incredibly proud of the students who have worked so hard.

“At Works4U, we pride ourselves on providing our young people with real-world experiences to enhance their skills and boost their confidence.”

Works4U, based in Stalybridge, provides alternative education and vocational programmes aimed at helping young people build the skills and confidence needed to enter further training or employment.

Placements such as this form a core part of the organisation’s hands-on learning approach.

The dinner marks one of several events where Works4U students have engaged with the wider community as part of their curriculum.
