Popular Denton bakery closes unexpectedly

A POPULAR Denton bakery has stunned its loyal customers by closing its doors without warning.

The Village Bakery, on Haughton Green Road, had built a strong following since reopening under the ownership of Craig Weatherhead in March 2025.

Known for its fresh bread, hearty pies and indulgent cakes, the shop quickly became a fixture of the local high street.

Regular posts on social media showcasing new bakes and specials often drew praise from residents, with one local describing the bakery as ‘a real gem.’

But on Sunday, August 3, followers were met with a surprise update. A short message read:

“The Village Bakery will be closed for the foreseeable future. We will not be able to honour any existing orders. Apologies for any inconvenience.”
