RESIDENTS are being warned of upcoming roadworks on a main road in Mottram, which could last for a week.

United Utilities is planning to repair a sewer on Broadbottom Road, close to the junction with Church Brow and Ashworth Lane.

The road is often used as an alternative to the A57 for motorists travelling to and from Glossop.

The water company says it is carrying out the work from Monday, August 4, and it’s expected to take seven days.

It adds that working hours will be 8am to 4pm and there will be temporary four-way traffic lights in operation.

A spokesperson said: “We understand roadworks can be inconvenient and our team will do all they can to minimise any disruption for the local community.

“There may be an increase in footfall and noise generated from our vehicles and equipment for the duration of the works. We appreciate your patience and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”

Residents living in the vicinity of the roadworks are advised that they will still be able to use all facilities and appliances that generate wastewater as normal while the work takes place.
