Hyde Mela returns for fifth successive year

THE whole community is invited to a free family-event in Hyde which is returning for the fifth successive summer.

There will be a party atmosphere in Hyde Park once again when Hyde Mela comes to town.

The event takes place on Sunday, July 27, from 11am to 5pm.

A ‘mela’ is a fully inclusive celebration that includes entertainment and food, promoting community purpose and unity.

It first happened in 2021 as members of Hyde’s Asian community looked to replicate the success of events held in other areas of the region that have diverse communities.

The popular event – organised by volunteers from the Hyde Mela Trust – was self funded for the first three years but has since received funding from the National Lottery Community Fund to secure its immediate future.

Entry to the park is free and there will be plenty to keep people of all ages entertained – including an artisan market, fairground rides, food stalls, classic cars, henna artists, live music and a raffle.

Dogs on leads are welcome and parking will be available on the fairground site adjacent to the park.
