RAIL bosses are set to meet people who will be directly impacted by the moving of Mossley’s train station.
Concerns over plans to shift the facility 300 metres up Manchester Road as part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) have dominated public meetings.
Meetings have been held between those planning the move, which is set to see a new building constructed at the other end of an extended car park from 2028 until 2030, Mossley Town Council and Tameside borough councillors.

Now a get together with those living opposite the new site will take place.
A drop-in session at Mossley AFC’s Seel Park ground on Wednesday, July 9, saw dozens of members of the public learn more about the scheme, which will be accessible, longer platforms on both sides to accommodate new electric trains.
Mossley station’s current building, which is listed, will remain and will be repurposed, possibly for community use.
Worries over parking – and the impact the installation of a new pedestrian crossing will have on it – dominated the event.
But access, what will happen to the current building and noise generated by day and night-time work were also the subject of enquiries.
TRU chiefs produced a document answering frequently asked question surrounding the move of Mossley Station.
They insisted it will provide more seating, covered access and space for prams and wheelchairs, as well as extra parking.
Additional planting will be put in place while bus stops may be moved, with Transport for Greater Manchester planning how it will look in future.
One thing ruled out, though, was keeping the station as it is, with them saying: “The existing site is constrained by a rock cutting and adjacent properties.

“It’s nit feasible to add accessible infrastructure without major impacts, so relocation was necessary.”
However, not everyone who will be impacted most by the move – particularly those living on Manchester Road – were completely satisfied by the answers.
As a result, TRU chiefs say they will meet with residents in the coming weeks as detailed design work is done.
