A TAMESIDE futsal club is celebrating yet more glory on the national stage.
Sala Futsal Club’s Under-16s girls team has shown it was a cut above the rest.
The teenagers were recently crowned England Futsal National Plate champions, after beating Somerset-based side Hutton FC in the final.
A thrilling contest at The University of Derby saw Sala take a two-goal lead early on before being pegged back to 2-1 at the end of the first half.

After a bright start to the second half, Sala quickly went 5-1 up before extending the advantage to eventually run out 9-2 winners.
Sala Futsal’s head coach commended the girls’ convincing display and proud achievement.
“After a slow and nervy first half, the girls got back on track and dominated the second half with some superb passing and movement,” said Neil Lucas.
“It was a well-deserved win and a real blessing to win a national final.”
This was the fourth successive year that the local club has been represented by one of its youth teams in a final.
It also follows on from two of Sala’s coaches, Oscar Lucas and Kai Lawless, playing a key role in Bolton Futsal Club being crowned national champions recently too.
Sala Futsal Club runs weekly training sessions in Tameside and Gorton for both boys and girls aged six to 16, with opportunities to play in local leagues and tournaments from Under-10s and beyond.

Futsal is FIFA’s official form of small-sided indoor football – a five-a-side game played on a basketball size court – which is well known for being a development tool for footballers.
