Former patient plans ‘Pizza and Pony Palooza’ in aid of Tameside’s Macmillan Unit

THERE will be pizza, ponies and pop concert prizes as a former patient organises her next charity event to raise money for the Macmillan Unit at Tameside Hospital where she was treated.

Former breast cancer patient Lindsey Milhench is back with another charity event which is set to be even bigger and better than her event in 2024.

The ‘Pizza and Pony Palooza’, taking place from 2pm at the Astley Arms in Stalybridge on Saturday, June 28, will offer family entertainment, food and drink, bakes sales, raffles galore, and a special appearance from Logan the Pony.

And Epic Pizzas will be on hand serving up their crowd-pleasing slices throughout the afternoon.

All proceeds will go to Tameside & Glossop NHS Charity, helping to enhance the care, comfort and wellbeing of patients and families at the Tameside Macmillan Unit.

Lindsey’s journey began in August 2023, when she discovered a lump in her right breast. Although the lump disappeared just before her mammogram, the scan – along with follow-up tests – confirmed the presence of cancer.

Thankfully, it was caught early, and Lindsey underwent chemotherapy and radiotherapy with the dedicated support of the Tameside Macmillan Unit.

“I’ll never forget the kindness and compassion I received during my treatment,” Lindsey said.

“That’s why I’m doing this – to give back to the amazing people who helped me through. Last year was incredible, and I’d love to raise even more this time.”

The raffle will have top prizes including tickets to see OneRepublic at Co-op Live this September, a Manchester City Stadium Tour, four tickets to the Fields of Gold Festival, and a voucher for Italian restaurant Ornella, along with many more generous prizes donated by local businesses and supporters.
