THE meaning of Whit Friday for the next generation has been captured in colourful and creative pictures by Mossley children.
Mossley AFC, which hosts the annual band contest at Seel Park, ran a competition to engage the younger side of the community and help keep the tradition alive.

Local schools and groups were invited to enter, with children asked to create a picture, painting, drawing of what Whit Friday means to them.
Nicky Iqbal, events co-ordinator at Mossley AFC, explained: “The aim was to engage the community and keep alive the traditions and spirit of Whit Friday in the next generation.

“We were overwhelmed at the quality of the entries and everyone captured the true feeling of Whit Friday.”
Winners of each of the age categories will get their picture printed in the Whit Friday programme and they will also receive tickets to watch a league game of their choosing next season.

The winners are:
- Age 6 category – Ivy-Rose from Micklehurst All Saints Primary
- Age 7 category – Jasmine from Mossley Brownies
- Age 8 category – Tabitha from Mossley Brownies
- Age 9-10 category – Isabel from Micklehurst All Saints Primary

All entries will be displayed at the club on Whit Friday – June 13.
