A LOCAL funeral directors is inviting charities and community projects that make a positive difference in and around Mossley to apply for grants.
Since it began last year, The Elizabeth Way & Company’s Community Assistance Programme has supported more than 10 projects.
The latest saw money go towards renovating the outside seating area close to the clubhouse at Micklehurst Cricket & Social Club.

Ben McCutcheon, from Elizabeth Way, met Chairman Garry Kippax and hopes the two establishments can have an ongoing relationship.
“The area looks absolutely brilliant now and is a great place for club members and visitors to sit outside and watch the cricket, just in time for the new season,” said Ben.
“We know the club survives on the hard work and decision of its volunteers and the support they receive from the community, which is why we were thrilled to help.”
Applications for the programme have now reopened and projects within three miles of Elizabeth Way’s funeral home on Stamford Street in Mossley which improve the quality of life for residents and the wider community are eligible to apply for grant funding.
Funeral Director Pauline Lawrence is part of the panel which assesses the applications.
She said: “We have loved running the Community Fund and getting to know people doing great work in our area. I’d urge any other local charities and good causes to get in touch during this round of applications – we would love to hear from you.”
Projects must align with one of more of the fund’s four categories – Health, Education, Employment Opportunities and Poverty and Social Deprivation.
It’s the second of three application cycles this year, with the final one set to open in September.
