Scarecrows set to take over Hyde village again

CRAFTY creations will be springing up in a Hyde village for the fourth successive year.

Residents are gearing up to bring their imagination to life for the return of Gee Cross Scarecrow Festival.

The festival is supported by local Neighbourhood Watch groups and Hyde Werneth councillors Phil Chadwick and Chris Halligan.

It’s happening over the weekend of Saturday, September 27th, and Sunday, September 28th.

Scarecrows can be any form or size, use a variety of materials and don’t have to be a specific theme. They must be prominently displayed during the weekend – such as in a front garden or window.

To take part, register your intention by sending an email to gxscarecrowfestival@gmail.com by Friday, August 29th – including your name and address.

As well as creating a scarecrow trail for the community to enjoy, there will be a friendly competition with prizes for the top three entries.

Last year, YouTuber Tom Cassell of The Syndicate Project was a guest judge and organisers are hoping he will take on the duties again.

The local lad braved the rain and had a tough choice to narrow down dozens of spectacular entries – which included everything from the Despicable Me films to Slash from Guns ‘n’ Roses.
