New partnership made in Tameside spells progress for pupils

CHILDREN’S learning of phonics at schools across the country will be enhanced by a partnership made in Tameside.

A Stalybridge-based online teaching resource has teamed up with an educational resources supplier in Hyde.

Scode Spelling – developed by experienced educators Emma Skeldon and Jill Warburton – provides a structured approach to spelling for Years 2 to 6.

The phonics-based spelling scheme has joined Findel’s incubator programme, which is run by the company’s education platform EuHu.

EuHu, short for Educator Hub, is Findel’s free-to-use and subscription-based online platform, featuring content created by expert educators.

Scode Spelling covers all aspects of the national curriculum through structured lessons planned and resourced by teachers, for teachers.

The scheme puts a big focus on etymology and morphology – helping children understand why words are spelled the way they are, rather than just memorising them.

Emma said: “The partnership with Findel offers an exciting opportunity for us to share our love of spelling and language with even more colleagues and the children they teach.”

Findel has been supplying educational resources since 1817 and now exports to 130 countries. With more than 32,000 products on its books, the company’s mission is to make sure teachers have the best tools for the job.

“Partnering with Scode Spelling aligns perfectly with our mission to enhance learning experiences and provide high-quality teaching tools through EuHu,” said Findel chief executive Chris Mahady.

“We look forward to working together to make a meaningful impact on spelling instruction in primary schools.”
