DAISY Nook Garden Centre has reopened under new management and the owners have revealed they have grand plans for the site.
However, J. Parker’s says it wants to ‘honour the legacy’ of the ‘beloved spot for local gardeners’ established by the previous owners.
The popular centre – situated on the Tameside and Oldham border – was owned by the Calder family for 52 years before it went up for sale last summer.
After being closed for a few days for refurbishment, a new era officially began on Friday, March 21, when the centre – which occupies almost five acres of land – opened again to the public.
The cafe at the Daisy Nook centre, next to the M60, will remain open and could be renovated in the future.
The new company at the helm says all current staff have been retained and it wants to continue acting as a steward of the surrounding Daisy Nook Country Park, as well as bringing its own 90-year family-run heritage to the site.
It’s the garden retailer’s fourth garden centre and third in Greater Manchester, with others in Flixton, Prestbury and Anwick.
Parker’s hope it will continue to serve as a hub for the area’s gardening enthusiasts, offering an extensive range of plants as well as gardening essentials, tools and garden furniture.
“This is the next natural step in growing our business, opening doors to new opportunities while keeping our roots firmly in the local area,” said CEO Paul Parker.
“We intend to maintain the legacy of Daisy Nook by continuing to play a key role within the local community, contributing to the local park and green spaces, as well as cooperating with local businesses.
“We also plan on bringing significant levels of investment to the site, to make J. Parker’s at Daisy Nook a premier garden retail destination for the Oldham/Tameside area.”
The social media pages for the garden centre have been renamed J. Parker’s Garden Centre at Daisy Nook.
