POLICE are urging people to report vehicle crimes to them after seeing a recent rise across Tameside.
Officers say this has included thefts from vehicles, such as tools being stolen from vans.
Despite receiving a spike in reports, Greater Manchester Police’s Tameside district team believes they are not being made aware of every crime being committed.
The force has put out an appeal to residents throughout the borough.
“We urge anyone whose vehicle has been broken into or even an attempt of theft from/of a motor vehicle to contact the police to report this,” a statement read.
“The more information we have about this issue, the more action we can take to disrupt it.”
Reports to police can be made by calling 101 or online at www.gmp.police.uk, or information can be passed on anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Officers have also issued some advice to residents in a bid to prevent vehicle crime, which can be found by visiting https://www.gmp.police.uk/cp/crime-prevention/keeping-vehicles-safe/
