A TAMESIDE cricket club has launched a £3,000 fundraising initiative to transform its clubhouse seating area.
Micklehurst CC, situated on Castle Lane and affectionately known as the ‘Cream of the Pennines’, is regarded as ‘more than a cricket ground’ as it serves the community beyond the normal match.
Now it is appealing to renovate the area known as Kippax Corner, a much-loved part of the ground named in honour of the Kippax family, stalwarts of the club for decades.

Currently serving as an outdoor seating area adjacent to the clubhouse, it offers picturesque views of the cricket pitch and the surrounding moorland.
But despite its popularity, it requires urgent renovation to enhance safety and comfort.
And the Greater Manchester Cricket League outfit, which boasts three senior teams and a thriving junior section, has launched a crowdfunding appeal.
A spokesperson for Micklehurst CC said: “Our goal is to create a more welcoming environment where families and cricket fans can gather safely.
“With the community’s support, we aim to raise £3,000 to fund essential upgrades.”
The proposed renovations include landscaping, levelling, and expanding the existing seating area with new patio seating and durable picnic tables.
