WOULD you like to star in a play about Tameside, created by local people?
Well, now is your chance to shine!
The Den Festival is returning to the borough in May, and organisers are looking for community performers to take part in the headline show at Stalybridge Civic Hall.
‘No Such Thing As Ordinary’ was written in 2021 by Rachel McMurray for the Royal Exchange Theatre, woven from stories from hundreds of local people.
The play, directed by Andy Barry, follows six characters through the collage of first-hand accounts as they explore their relationship with the borough’s history, community, and their own memories of the place they call home.
They ask viewers to consider if there is such a thing as ordinary.
There are six characters in the play and their age, gender and ethnicity are flexible, so anyone aged 18 or over who lives, works or plays in Tameside can apply.
No performing experience is necessary but participants will be required to learn lines.
More information, including how to express interest, can be found at https://www.royalexchange.co.uk/project/community-performers-call-out-no-such-thing-as-ordinary/
The Royal Exchange Theatre team will also be available to chat to at the Rutherford Rabble in Hyde and Steampunk Festival at Portland Basin Museum on Saturday, February 22, as well as the Know Your Neighbourhood, Tameside Volunteer Fair on Thursday, February 27.
The deadline for applications is Monday, March 10.
