A FORMER balloon business in Mossley is likely to be associated with bubbles of a different kind after an alcohol licence for its premises was granted.
Ballooniversal, on Stamford Street, has stood empty since it closed on August 26, 2023.
Now San Giorgio Mossley Ltd, which owns the restaurant on the opposite side of the main junction, has been allowed to serve alcohol from the building.
And it will trade under the name Salute San Giorgio.
Tameside Council’s licensing department has granted the paperwork to the firm, whose director is Anthony Owens.
It has been allowed opening hours from noon until 12.30am, seven days a week, but according to paperwork it is only allowed to serve beer or cider by the half pint.
Gin, rum, vodka or whisky must come in 25 ml or 35 ml measures and still wine in a glass must be 125 ml.
San Giorgio Mossley has also been told a tamper-proof digital colour CCTV system – which must operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week and soring footage for a minimum of 28 days – must be installed and maintained at the premises to the satisfaction of Greater Manchester Police.
A member of staff trained to operate the system and supply footage must also be present at all times when licensable activities are taking place.
Working with neighbouring businesses was also stipulated as the licence holder was told they must display clear and prominent notices in any outdoor public area and at the exit, requesting customers be quiet.
They were also ordered to ensure no noise or vibration emanates from the premises so as to cause a nuisance.
And rubbish and/or glass waste can only be put into bins between 8am and 8pm.
