Hattersley home subject to HMO plan

AN UNOCCUPIED Hattersley home could be turned into a house in multiple occupation (HMO) if planning permission is granted.

Rachel Moors, of Dukinfield-based Sorella Property, has applied to Tameside Council to convert the house on Hattersley Road East into five-bedroomed accommodation for up to six people.

According to the proposal, the lounge area would be converted into two bedrooms, as well as the three upstairs, but not all will have their own toilet.

Instead, two shower rooms would be placed in, as well as a communal kitchen and common area.

And the application, which says the only modification to the building will be a new front door and window, states: “It should be granted because it doesn’t contravene the use of accommodation of the area.

“The class C will remain and it won’t affect the neighbours and will give the chance to provide accommodation for single people.”

“Because the last use was a dwelling used by a person in a street with houses, the existing building will not be extended.”

Tameside Council’s Speaker’s Panel (Planning) committee will decide whether to rant or refuse planning permission.
