TAMESIDE Council staff have been evacuated from a depot after it suffered damage in Storm Eowyn.
Glass came crashing down as part of a roof at the Tame Street centre in Stalybridge, close to the border with Dukinfield, fell through in high winds.
Shutters were also bent, meaning the road was closed – with signs warning people of falling glass – and staff working there moved to different facilities on Monday, January 27.

As a result, people with licensing appointments – the service is based there, along with operations and neighbourhoods, which looks after bin collections – were told to head elsewhere.
A Tameside Council spokesperson told The Correspondent: ‘’Due to roof and shutter damage caused by high winds, our depot on Tame Street and the road has been temporarily closed for public safety.
“All licensing appointments are to take place at Dukinfield Town Hall – these are on an appointment basis for licence collection and vehicle inspections.
“Please send any queries to licensing@tameside.gov.uk.
“Bin collections are currently running as normal and we are working with contractors to make the building safe so the road can be opened as soon as possible.’’
