A CELEBRATION of diversity among women is set to take place in Tameside, with a fashion show, live music, delicious food and games all forming part of a special cultural festival.
The charity event, organised in partnership with Umeed (Hope) women’s group and Leading Women in Business, aims to bring together women from different backgrounds and cultures.
Hosted at Dukinfield Town Hall on Thursday, January 23 from 2pm to 5pm, the event is open to all, with admission priced at £10, payable on the door. Attendees will also have the chance to take part in a raffle featuring fantastic prizes.
The Civic Mayor of Tameside, Councillor Betty Affleck stated: “The festival is a celebration of the women from so many backgrounds and cultures who contribute so much to making Tameside the welcoming, successful, unique place that it is.
“We want to get as many people together as possible to enjoy a great afternoon, enjoy some good food, learn about each other, hopefully make some new friends and contacts, but most of all to have some fun while they’re doing it.”
For those seeking further information, the Mayor’s office can be contacted on 0161 342 3087.
The event will raise funds for the Civic Mayor’s charity appeal, which supports three worthy causes: Friends of Tameside Young Carers, The Shed (a project aiding men at risk of isolation), and the East Manchester Community Boat Project based at Portland Basin, Ashton.
