New dentist surgery to open in Tameside

PEOPLE in Tameside will soon have improved access to dental care as a new practice in Denton prepares to open.

mydentist’s surgery at Crown Point North Shopping Centre will come into action on Monday, January 27 and is now taking on new patients.

The announcement marks a step forward in addressing local concerns about access to NHS dental services, which have been a long-standing issue in the area.

This development follows the opening of a new diagnostic care centre in October at the retail park, housed in the former O2 and Tui site.

Together, these facilities are part of a broader effort to enhance healthcare services within the community.

Andrew Gwynne MP, who represents the Gorton and Denton constituency and recently became Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department of Health and Social Care, welcomed the news.

“A lack of access to NHS dental services has been an issue in my MP caseload for several years now,” he said, while outlining the government’s aim to improve access to dental services.

“We are committed to improving access to NHS dental services and we’ve set in motion our plan to reform the dental contract and to improve the availability of NHS services, especially for children in the first instance.

“I’ve been lobbying the NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care Board for this and have worked to ensure the approvals for the commissioning of NHS dentistry services were approved.”
