A FORMER Hyde pub will be turned into commercial units and office space of planning permission is granted.
The Owd Joss, on Market Street, served its final pint in March.
But Manchester-based Muhammad Kamran Tufail has applied to Tameside Council to convert the building.
If his proposal is accepted, it will be turned into three commercial units, each with its own shopfront.
Two will be accessed from Market Street while entrance to the other would be from Reynold Street.
Office space will be place at the back of the existing property and all would share the same toilet facilities and a ‘common area.’
Documents state: “The project includes alterations to the building’s elevations, featuring the creation of shopfronts for the three commercial units and a dedicated entrance door for the office space.
“Additionally, a few new windows will be added to the rear elevation to enhance natural light and functionality.
“This development aims to repurpose the building for modern commercial and office use while maintaining its character within the community.”
Tameside Council’s Speaker’s Panel (Planning) committee will decide whether to grant or refuse planning permission.
