SHOPPERS have been given an incentive to support local traders and retailers in Tameside in the build-up to Christmas.
Tameside Council is providing free parking again in towns every Saturday during December.
It’s available for a maximum of three hours at selected council-operated car parks on December 7, 14 and 21.
The local authority hopes the offer will encourage local residents to shop locally as much as possible, and give a boost to independent businesses across the borough.
“We really want to encourage visitors from across Tameside and beyond to come into our towns, support local businesses and enjoy the festive season,” said Councillor Stephen Homer, Executive Member for Towns, Transport and Connectivity.
“All our Elected Members will be pledging to shop local this Christmas in Tameside and I would encourage everyone to take advantage of the free parking on offer and visit your local high street.”
The car parks included in the offer are:
Ashton-under-Lyne: Union Street, Church Street 1
Denton: Queen Street
Droylsden: Market Square
Dukinfield: Town Hall
Hyde: Union Street
Mossley: Market Ground and Mill Street
Stalybridge: Castle Street 2
