Marvellous mural earns Arts Awards for Dane Bank Primary pupils

A COLOURFUL and creative mural has earned Dane Bank Primary School pupils prestigious Arts Awards.

Students designed and created the mural which is now in pride of place outside the Thorney Lane South school entrance.

It highlights their motto of ‘Dream it! Believe it! Achieve it! Together, it is possible’.

The pupils, now in Year 4, worked hard on the artist-led project at the end of the last academic year, resulting in each achieving their Arts Award DISCOVER.

The award presentation was carried out by the Civic Mayor of Tameside Councillor Betty Affleck and consort Declan Fitzpatrick with local ward councillors Brenda Warrington and George Jones in attendance.

A school spokesperson said: “It was great for the children to be able to be creative and expressive while also completing their learning journey.

“The children loved the finished piece and are proud to have it on display for the whole school community to see.”

Arts Awards support young people to develop as artists and arts leaders in their communities.

Tameside Council is committed to helping young people achieve their goals in this area by providing opportunities and support for them to flourish and develop.

The Arts Award project is facilitated through the support of the Council’s Cultural and Community Safety Services.
