A TEE-RIFIC group of golfers took to the fairway to give a welcome boost to the coffers of a local hospice.
It’s the 22nd consecutive year that Tameside Rotary has held a Golf Day in aid of Willow Wood Hospice.
This year, 22 teams were on par at Werneth Low Golf Club in Hyde and helped to raise £3,000 for the hospice.
Based in Ashton-under-Lyne, Willow Wood – celebrating its 25th anniversary this year – provides compassionate care to patients from Tameside and Glossop living with any life-limiting illness.
One of the highlights of this year’s event was the ‘yellow ball competition’ – won by Globe Scaffolding in Dukinfield.
But the overall winner on the day was ‘WGAF (Woods, Greens and Fairways) Team 2’.
Tameside Rotary’s President Manhar Taylor and fellow Rotarian Andy Williams recently formally presented the funds to Vanessa Murphy-Wood, the hospice’s Events and Community Fundraiser.
Vanessa presented the prizes and trophies to the winning teams and individuals at the Golf Day – which was this year sponsored by Malbern Windows in Denton and First Drainage Solutions in Dukinfield.
A spokesperson for Tameside Rotary said: “Thank you again to our sponsors, supporters, players and the golf club for their part in ensuring a very successful day.”
Vanessa commented: “On behalf of Willow Wood, I offer our sincere thanks to Tameside Rotary, who have been long-standing supporters of the hospice, and to Werneth Low Golf Club and all those who participated in the event and provided sponsorship.
“Their continued support really makes a difference to patients from our local community and helps us continue to deliver high-quality care and services.”
