STALYBRIDGE Celtic are searching for a new manager following the sacking of James Kinsey.
The Bower Fold club has made no secret of its desire to earn promotion from the Northern Premier League West Division.
And even though Celtic currently sit fourth, four points behind leaders Widnes, they have decided to part company with the man in charge and his team.
Wednesday’s 3-0 defeat at the club now sitting top of the table was seen as the last straw.
In a statement, chairman Nigel Jones said: “This was a difficult decision, and I would like to thank James and his management team for their hard work since they were appointed in May 2023.
“Together, their commitment to the job in hand has never wavered and I know how much effort they have put in to try to make things work.
“Having come to Celtic at a difficult time following our takeover last year, they successfully managed to rebuild the squad at short notice and put together a competitive team during the first half of last season.
“However, we feel that a change is now needed.
“On behalf of the club, I’d like to wish James and his team the very best for their future.”
Kinsey arrived at Celtic after five years in charge of Wythenshawe Town, where he took them from the Cheshire Premier Division to two third place finishes in the North West Counties League Premier Division.
The 2021-22 season saw them also reach the FA Vase Quarter Finals after entering in the First Qualifying Round.
However, success has eluded him at Stalybridge as they make strides off the field, the latest being the granting of permission to create a new fanzine and executive area.
Since Kinsey left, Wythenshawe Town have been promoted to the Northern Premier League West Division. However, he did haunt them as Celtic defeated them 2-1 on Tuesday, October 1.
No timescale has yet been placed on appointing a permanent successor, with an interim manager set to be named.
Bit harsh 4th in the league & get sacked ! Managers below them must be looking over their shoulder shoulders thinking 4th & sacked
Very harsh indeed. This is a problem throughout football really. Compare Manchester United with Manchester City and Liverpool since Alex Ferguson left, how many managers have these 3 clubs had? Clubs expect instant results, this cannot happen as it takes years to build success. I am a UEFA A badged coach and even I wouldn’t be considered for the Stalybridge job for various reasons.
