A LARGE charity shop in Tameside which is popular among the community has received some national recognition.
And Emmaus Mossley now needs your help to help win an award.
The homelessness charity is celebrating its Secondhand Superstore being shortlisted for The UK’s Favourite Charity Shop Award.
The store, in Longlands Mill on Queen Street, sells items such as furniture, fashion, books, bric-a-brac and music, alongside handmade and upcycled items.
All income raised is used by the charity to sustain its 26-bedroom community and the support given to people who live there, paying for food, energy costs, training and more.
Emmaus Mossley supports people who have experienced homelessness by providing them with a home, companionship, tailored support and work opportunities.
Hazel Hodkinson, the charity’s Retail Manager, commented: “It’s a big team effort to run and maintain our Secondhand Superstore and we’re extremely proud and very grateful to receive this national recognition.
“The Emmaus Mossley Secondhand Superstore is so much more than a traditional charity shop. We’re always keen to improve and evolve the store, ensuring it’s a welcoming and exciting place to visit with different events happening throughout the year.

The UK’s Favourite Charity Shop Award launched earlier this summer, as part of the Charity Retail Association’s 25th anniversary celebrations. Nearly 6,500 nominations for charity shops were received, from which six finalists were identified in each region.
Charity shop fans have until midnight on Monday, September 23, to vote for their favourite in each region and the overall winner will be presented with the award at a special event in November.
